Privacy Policy
Hickory & Time is a free BBQ smoke-session planner and live cook tracker. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.
The short version
Hickory & Time does not require an account. Its planner, live tracker, cut guides, catering tools, and saved cook data run on your device. The app does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and it does not automatically send your cook data to the developer or anyone else.
The only information sent outside your device is what you choose to submit through the optional feedback form and, if you use it, the weather lookup.
Information stored on your device
Hickory & Time stores the information you enter about your cooks locally on your device. This may include details such as:
- Meat cuts, weights, temperatures, times, notes, fuel type, and wood or pellet flavor
- Planner settings, live-session details, and saved cook history
- Catering estimates and other information you enter into the app’s tools
This information stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere by the app.
You can remove locally stored app data by clearing Hickory & Time’s storage in your device settings or uninstalling the app. Your device or backup provider may keep backups according to its own settings and policies.
Optional feedback form
Hickory & Time may offer an optional feedback form. If you choose to submit it, the form collects:
- Your survey answers
- Your email address, only if you choose to provide it
Submitted feedback is stored in the developer’s private Google Form and associated Google Sheet. It is used only to understand feedback, respond when appropriate, and improve Hickory & Time.
Google processes form submissions as the service used to receive and store this feedback. Do not include sensitive personal information in your response.
You do not have to use the feedback form to use the app.
Weather lookups
If you choose to check cooking conditions, the app sends the ZIP code or city you enter to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to get a forecast. If you tap “Use my location” instead, it sends your approximate location, rounded to about 1 km (0.6 miles). This happens only when you ask for the weather. The app does not track your location in the background, and none of your cook data is sent. Open-Meteo’s own terms and privacy policy apply to these requests.
Information Hickory & Time does not collect
The app does not use:
- User accounts or sign-in
- Analytics SDKs
- Advertising SDKs or personalized ads
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking
- Location tracking
- Automatic collection of cook data
Selling and sharing information
The developer does not sell personal information.
The developer does not share personal information with third parties except as described in this policy: optional feedback is processed and stored through Google Forms and Google Sheets. Information may also be disclosed if required by law or needed to protect the security of the app and its users.
Data retention and deletion
Cook data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app.
Optional feedback submissions are kept only as long as reasonably needed to review feedback, improve the app, and respond when appropriate. To request deletion of feedback you submitted, contact the developer using the support email below. Include enough information to identify your submission, such as the email address you used and an approximate submission date. Do not send sensitive information.
Changes to this policy
If Hickory & Time’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before the new practices apply. The effective date at the top will show when the policy was last revised.
